Offering better services to citizens is the incentive behind every national eID project. However, with increasing use of the eID for online authentication and incidences of identity fraud on the rise, governments need guarantees that the highest standards are being applied when it comes to protecting their citizens’ personal data. Achieving this requires a partner who offers the following capabilities: deep knowledge of the most advanced materials and techniques to protect the document itself; specialist data encryption skills and the ability to both establish secured production sites and then subsequently provide secure management of the IT infrastructure containing each citizen’s private information.
As Belgium’s partner for the implementation of its eID programme since early 2003, Zetes is currently one of the most experienced companies for the production and personalisation of top quality and highly secured identity documents. Through this project, Belgium has been, and remains at the forefront of innovation.
To date, Zetes has produced over 24 000 000 national identity documents. It was the first company in the identification and authentication sector to obtain ISO 27001 certification, the most relevant international standard defining requirements for the implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
Zetes’ expertise spans the complete value chain, from registration of personal data to the personalisation and delivery of each document to individual citizens. In consortium with PitKit, Zetes also produces its own polycarbonate cards in a highly secured environment.
