Zetes, Platinum sponsor of ID4Africa, advocates for the creation of modern, computerized, and centralized civil registration systems

18th to 20th of June, Emperors Palace Convention Center - Johannesburg, South Africa
Brussels, 23rd May 2019 – This year again, Zetes will be present at the fifth annual ID4Africa conference in its capacity as a Platinum sponsor. The meeting of the movement of the same name campaigns to achieve ID-for-all on the African continent, and will be held from 18th to 20th June 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In line with the overall theme, “Identity Ecosystems for Service Delivery”, Zetes' main messages will once again evolve around the “Know Your Citizen” concept. Whereas last year it put the emphasis on the population register, in Johannesburg the company will broaden the scope to the need of integrated civil registration systems and why a national identification database can’t suffice to fulfil the purpose of enhancing administration efficiency. This will therefore be the topic of the sessions Zetes is participating in:
- 18 June, 4:30-6:30 PM
PS3: Reports from the solutions providers
Jérôme Coulon / Regional Director, ECOWAS/CEMAC, Zetes
Beyond Identity: The enhancement of public services to citizens - 19 June, 8:30-10:00 AM
InF1: Civil registration
Dr. Extase Akpotsui / Solution Architect, Zetes
Beyond Identity: The enhancement of public services to citizens. An empirical approach.
Ronny Depoortere, Senior VP of the People ID Division of Zetes, says: "The identification of citizens serves a greater purpose than just the identification in itself. The ultimate goal is to be able to offer better services to those citizens and to be able to rely on correct information in order to take enlightened administrative decisions. Therefore, national identification programmes always need to add this extra dimension into account. The ID4Africa movement perfectly understood this reality and, together with them, we hope we will be able to convince government officials to put the identity at the centre of complete ecosystems. "
Other solutions presented by Zetes at ID4Africa include ZetesOrbis (travel documents & border management solutions), ZetesVox (voter identification & control, e-voting), ZetesSana (identification in healthcare programmes), and ZetesVia (identification of drivers). Population registers are part of the ZetesPersona offering, which evolves around the general identification of citizens, and also includes the production and personalisation of (electronic) identity cards.
