• The ISO 27001 standard guarantees secure information processing
  • Zetes is one of the first companies to be able to offer such guarantees for the production of electronic identity documents and one of the few Belgian companies to have been awarded the certification

Brussels - 28 April 2010 - Zetes (Euronext Brussels: ZTS), the leading European provider of solutions and services for the automatic identification of goods and people is proud to announce that it has been awarded the ISO 27001 certification for the production of e-ID and e-Travel documents (passports, visas, etc.).

ISO 27001 is the only internationally recognised standard governing the definition of the security requirements that must be complied with to set up an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information (which are assured, in particular, by secured IT systems) are some of the criteria that are taken into account to evaluate the level of protection of the data relating to companies and their customers.

According to Alain Wirtz, Zetes CEO: « This certification is the result of all the efforts channelled by Zetes into meeting the very rigorous security demands imposed by the authorities for the processing of information for eID and eTravel document projects. We have already earned the trust of many institutions and administrations; in Belgium, Portugal, Israel and Côte d’Ivoire to name a few. Now certified ISO 27001, we bring them an additional proof of reliability. Indeed it is crucial when managing population databases to be able to guarantee the glitch-free processing of the information ».

By meeting the more than 130 criteria specified by the standard, Zetes becomes one of the first companies to be able to offer such guarantees for the production of electronic identity documents. It is also one of the very few Belgian companies to have been awarded the certification.
